Château de Pizay
The Gardens at Pizay

Nestling in the heart of the Beaujolais region, Château de Pizay is one of the most important estates in Beaujolais with 65 hectares of vines. As well as the vineyards on the estate, they own vineyards in the top Beaujolais Cru appellations of Morgon and Brouilly. Pascal Dufaitre and Aline Deshayes have been in charge of the vineyard since 1983.

The château, which was first built in 1030, with alterations through to the 14th century, is now a luxury hotel with 65 bedrooms, a fabulous gourmet restaurant, and exquisite formal gardens. WineShare members visiting the vineyard may find it hard to resist spoiling themselves with a stay at the chateau.

The wines produced by Chateau de Pizay are exceptional examples of the Beaujolais Gamay grape, with typical soft, fruity flavours, but with unusual structure and finesse. Pizay also produces a fine unoaked Chardonnay more typical of Burgundy to the north.
