Vintage Weekend, Castello Vicchiomaggio, October 3rd - 5th

This is the fourth vintage that WineShare have picked grapes at Vicchiomaggio, and so far it's been a great success.

Friday begins among the vines, as you get to be a Tuscan grape picker, at least for a short while, complete with a typical country breakfast. The morning ends with a tour of the vineyard in the company of owner John Matta, and an informal, rustic lunch. Afterwards John will explain winemaking techniques as you tour the castle's cellars.

In the evening John will be your host for a celebration of wine and gourmet food. Twice IWSC Italian Winemaker of the Year, John will guide us through the wines presented with each course, and discuss any aspects of winemaking that interest you.

Saturday is free for you to explore the beautiful Tuscan scenery, and perhaps visit the historic cities of Florence, Siena, or San Gimignano, all within driving distance.

On Sunday, complete your weekend at Vicchiomaggio with a professional tasting of Tuscan Sangiovese wines. John will guide you through the different wines and styles, explaining the impact of microclimate and soils. This will be followed by drinks in the beautiful Castle gardens, and an authentic Tuscan lunch.
